Intergalactic

So I’ve reached the space age in spore. One of the most interesting things to me is that the level of complexity scales with each new phase of the game. It’s the first time I’ve found a game that does it right. However, I’m starting to run into some glaring issues where missions are involved. The complexity of the missions has increased without the ability to clarify mission objectives. I’ll give you an example.

This morning I was kicking ass and making alliances. I accepted a mission from one of my allies to explore and catalog life on a planet. Problem was, I didn’t have any metric to measure whether I was done or not UNTIL I was done. I could scan and scan and scan but I didn’t get the completed flag until I found all of the criteria for that planet. One one level, it makes sense that I wouldn’t know before hand how many species I needed to scan. The flip side from game mechanics, I had no idea what the hell I was supposed to do to finish. I spent more time then it should have taken (10 minutes) just looking for that last specimen. I think this part of the game still needs a little tuning.

Anyways, to celebrate my journey into space I went looking for a video of play feature space activity to associate with this post. Instead, I found this and laughed my ass off:
